Nobody has to watch anything. Attention is volunteered, three seconds at a time. We make films that earn it, and repay it in full.
NIGHT RIDE
The brief: launch a silent motorbike to riders who love engine noise. So we shot the city it belongs to: neon, rain, empty streets at three in the morning. No voiceover, no spec sheet. The rain does the talking.
SMALL HOURS
A single malt made slowly by a small crew on the Ayrshire coast. No castle, no crest, no lord on the label, so the film shows what is actually there: a slow pour, and colour you can read the age in. Shot close enough to feel the weight of the glass. It moves at the speed the whisky does.
FIRST LIGHT
The brief: launch a harvest lager without pouring a single pint on screen. So we went to where it starts: barley at first light, wind writing through the field, the year's whole crop moving at once. The glass can wait. The morning cannot.
ALL-NIGHTER
Opening titles for a documentary about northern club culture. Four decades of nights condensed into ninety seconds of smoke, light and dust. Built to play loud in a dark room, which is where films and clubs both belong.
Audiences move all at once.
A hundred thousand starlings turn on the same beat with nobody in charge. Attention does the same when the work deserves it. This flock is not footage: it is drawn live, every frame, by the rules real birds use. Chase it.
DEVELOP
Scripts, boards, previs. The film is finished on paper before anything rolls.
SHOOT
Small crews and fast glass in real places. We light for the edit.
FINISH
Edit, grade, mix and deliver under one roof. Nothing leaves until it holds the room.
STAR TURN n. the act everyone came to see.
Star Turn is a small studio in Manchester. Direction, edit, colour and sound sit in the same corridor, so nothing gets lost in a handover. We take on few enough films to finish every one properly, and we would rather lose a job than rush a frame.
